New Addition Edition

So, maybe you noticed I’ve taken a hiatus, maybe you didn’t. Either way, there were more or less two reasons I stalled. The first being, we moved. John got an amazing position as a Creative Director at Level Studios which is minutes from my parents house.  Closing Meds was bittersweet, as was leaving San Francisco. I was glad to settle down, buy cars, spend time with my family and finally my husband. But with that said, some of my fondest memories were made in that gallery. Some of my best friends were made in that city. Every other time I’ve moved away, it’s been with my middle finger to the sky. Not this time. The Bay area is, in my humble opinion, the best city on earth. I miss it everyday and know we will someday find our way back. Until then…

We makin babies. In fact, I’m baking a bun as we speak (reason number two I wasn’t blogging).  I’ve had baby on the brain and due to the whole possibility of miscarriage in the first trimester, I couldn’t speak on it. Anyone who’s ever met me knows I’m an open book, so withholding that information was THE WORST. On the upside, baby girl is doing fine now  (yes, GIRL!!) and we’re cruising through our second trimester.

I feel so blessed. Seriously.

I would like to end this post with some of my favorite photographs of the people who’ve changed my life this year.

My Rider DYI send off. There are no words for how lucky I feel to have met such wonderful ladies.

This would be a photo of the crew at Martine and Tone’s wedding. This would also be the day John and I got pregnant. Jus’ sayin.

Obviously, Medicine Agency has too many memories and events to put in one post. But here’s a few…

John and Rama at tradeshow. We hosted a party with Paul Pierce and John ended up in a wheelchair. Don’t ask.

Our Wedding would be another highlight. It was the best day of my life. Here I am with my boys, Virgil and Ronnie. I miss them constantly.

My girls Rinat and Benae…

My Wicks and I “working” in China. She’s in England now, dumb.

and this effin guy…

my best friend Sean Lee.

My family is crazy, crazy awesome! Technically they weren’t in SF with me, but they’re always with me really so they’re included. And anyway, my blog, my rules.

There are so many moments, so many friends not mentioned but know I think about you all the damn time.

Finally, I leave you with this.
My brilliant husband created this video announcing the impending arrival of Colette Moon LaCroix.

Hair Envy. Pixie Edition

This is my current obsession. I’m sitting here listening to the Pixies, looking at pixies. This is a haircut I don’t have the facial structure for. So obviously I’ve become completely embroiled with it.

Hermione Granger, duh.

Coolest thing she’s done, probably ever.

Carey Mulligan, I would.

Dear Creatures, You’re Blowing My Mind Right Now. Love Moon

What can I say about Bianca. She’s smart, driven, funny and she’s as sweet as the day is long.  She’s a now distant but wonderful friend and for a brief period she was my roommate in college. We spent most nights sitting by the kitchen window sipping cheap red wine. Now however, she should drink some champagne because homegirl has some celebrating to do! The brand she does with fiance Ron Sinclair, Dear Creatures is doing big things, big things people! As they state on their site, Dear Creatures looks to the future of fashion, with a nod to the past. You know right away when you see it. Yup, that’s Bianca. It’s phenom to see such genuinely good people in fashion have so much success. She’s stayed true to her vision and it’s served her well. From Eva Longoria to Zooey Deschanel, their following is growing by the day. Every collection has been a hit and they just keep bringing it! I’m so happy for them.

Some looks from their current collection.

Bianca lookin super cute in Elle!

Hell To The Snow

Well, it was fun while it lasted…

Back to the fun… which for the record, lasted quite a while and was at home in the Central Coast.

Spent time with my bestie Leah, my main squeeze Jaeden and their fam.

Leah was feelin the peacock theme on the tree this year. Don’t hate it.

Made me think of my Grammy Mathews.

Pretty girl. Love you Lee.

Back on the home front we stayed warm by the fire, some of which was from the boys lighting Absinthe.

My handsome father Rick sporting his gift from down unda! A bushman’s hat from Cole and Stef’s trip to Oz.

I love Bradford, but let’s be honest. Skyebird has totally stolen his thunder in this picture. So regal! So golden!

This is one of the faces I wake up to everyday. I’ll give you a moment to let that sink in. Her name is Cocoa-Bunni aka my dream come true.

Angela and Domino. Don’t let those sweet and innocent looking faces fool you. They’ll cut a bitch.

My brother Cole and John Bradford. It was amazing we all were able to spend NYE together. It had been years. With my brothers new job at Element starting this week, we had a ton to celebrate. Very proud and excited to finally be able to share the news!

This is Stefanie, my sister in law. Yep, I know, She’s gorgeous.

Who’s this? Oh, it’s just Mr. Marles D. Wigglebottom, being studious and brave.

Thankful for my life. Excited to see what 2011 has in store. Cheers!

Tomye Werd

So Tom Ford says he doesn’t want plus size folks wearing his clothes, which is less than ideal for about 95% of the population. He hates on YSL (gasp!) which is pretty sacrilege, and basically dude has no inner-monologue whatsoever. In our industry, he’s labeled a “diva”. Do not be fooled, this is just code for complete asshole. The man is just wicked. So why do I insist on following his every move? Because damn it, he’s like the Kanye West of fashion. If I could afford put my husband in head to toe Tom Ford menswear, we would have made ten thousand babies by now. But I digress… this season’s womenswear is no exception. Just look at this shit!

This a his spread for W Mag. Gross, and by gross I mean I want all of it.

I don’t want to buy it, but the fringe! The fringe I tell you, it leaves me no choice.

and this… it reminds me of something I designed a few years ago, except not at all.

Oh hey Tom, you did leopard this year too? Samsies! Call me!

Now this is jolly.

Imagine

So, those of you who know me probably know that I had the privilege of designing clothing at English Laundry, the brand that has licensed John Lennon’s image, lyrics and likeness. Besides working with one of my best friends Tiff Wicks, this was the highlight of my time in Los Angeles. Working on garments inspired by this icon, was an honor and something I’m very proud of.

John Lennon was an important person for my Dad. My dad being an important person for me, I called him to ask about his thoughts on Lennon’s life and I thought I’d share…

On how he found out John Lennon had been killed- I was watching Monday night football and Howard Cosell, a somewhat controversial character in sports announcing was on the mic. Some people, myself included, found him to be off-putting, even annoying at times. So when he announced that John Lennon was shot, I was angry. Obviously I was devastated by the news, but also bothered to find out this way. But Howard understood the severity of the situation, he knew it made the game insignificant and he said so. In retrospect, he did a great job.

On John Lennon in life- He wasn’t always logical, but he came from the heart. His passion was the priority. He was at times, painfully honest. He had the guts to say “we are more popular than Jesus”. This wasn’t ego talking. This was something from a very well thought out person. He didn’t say better than Jesus, he said more popular and it was probably true.

He unleashed the voice for the underdog. Woody Guthrie inspired Bob Dylan and Bob Dylan inspired John Lennon. His music and his life moved this country and he moved me in a profound way. I’m so grateful for him.

When I hung up with my Dad I was a little teary eyed. I guess he moves me the way Bob Dylan and John Lennon move him.

Total Daddy’s girl, I know.

Mini Moni- The Story of Lucia Rose Paz-Hinrichs

So I’m getting to the age (a number I won’t mention) where babies are on the brain. Real talk, I’ve been known to ask friends if I can smell their children. Do with that information what you will. Anywho, my dear friends Hans and Moni recently gave birth to the most divine child, a Miss Lucia Rose. She’s tiny like her mother, lean like her father and will most definitely be a fruit fly. The child has more designer shoes than I do.

Exhibit A

Richen and I hosted the baby shower at Meds, which was in my humble opinion, the shit.

Proof

(note how excited they are!!)

and then came the bun…

(have you ever seen such a sweetie! The baby looks cute too.)

All and all, project Mini Moni was a raging success.
